‘Confucian culture’ gives Asia edge in chipmaking, former TSMC exec says

TAIPEI — Skilled engineers and a disciplined work culture are two of Asia’s biggest edges in advanced semiconductor production, but they cannot be taken for granted, according to one of Taiwan’s leading chip industry figures.

The U.S. and Europe are pushing to onshore vital chip production, having given up their original lead in that area to Asia decades ago.
