Developer Ubisoft is offering a free week of Skull and Bonesthe publisher’s pirate multiplayer game, which was released in February 2024.

Players on all platforms can jump into the adventure from May 30 to June 6, 2024to try the new Season 2, called Chorus of Havoc.

The game launched only a few months ago after a decade of development, but was met with mixed reactions by critics and gamers.

Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot called Skull and Bones ‘a quadruple-A game’, defending its £70 / $70 price.

Nevertheless, many players felt the game was lacking quality content to justify the hefty price tag.

Right now, S&B is sitting on an average 59 review score on Metacritic with a much lower 3.5 score from players.

Despite the cold welcome at launch, the game is completely free right now, so players can check for themselves whether it has improved since release.

The new Season 2 will have players face the eccentric Hubac twins, legendary sea lords sent by the Compagnie Royale to kill pirates and take control over the Indian Ocean.

Seasonal content also includes a new sea monster, new world events, and a couple of special festive events.

The latest updates to the game have also brought much-requested features like fleet management to help you build your pirate empire faster.

The ongoing Skull and Bones free week ends on June 6, at midnight PT / 8am UK Time for Xbox players, and five hours later, at 5am PT / 1pm UK Time for PC and PS5 owners.
